Note: Unless it says otherwise, you must be a current senior (12th grade) to apply for these scholarships this year.

 

REMEMBER – Always contact the admissions or financial aid offices at the colleges you are looking at. Ask them about their “in-house” or school scholarships. These can be some of the best ways to get financial help!


SECU Foundation People Helping People Scholarship – $10,000 over 4 years at one of the 16 public UNC system universities.

Covers the full cost of attendance not already paid by financial aid or family contribution (through FAFSA or your college). Deadline: Sept. 15, 2022, at 8 p.m. Ask Mrs. Humphries for a recommendation if you qualify.

Community Foundation of WNC Scholarship Programs – Many scholarships are available. cfwnc.org/students/scholarship-directory

College Board Opportunity Scholarships – Open to all students. No essay, application, or GPA required. You can earn up to $40,000 by completing steps on your path to college. opportunity.collegeboard.org

SEANC Scholarshipseanc.org/scholarship
For members of SEANC, their spouses, or children. (SEANC = State Employees Association of North Carolina).

FELS – Forgivable Education Loans for Servicecfnc.org/FELS
Helps students in approved programs who plan to work in high-need jobs in NC.

CFNC Financial Literacy – Take a short financial basics course through CFNC for a chance to win a $500 scholarship. basics.financialliteracy101.org

ACCESS at Appalachian State University – For NC students from low-income families. Covers costs so you can attend debt-free for 4 years. May also include an on-campus job for personal expenses. lap.appstate.edu/access
