Biography for Ms. McComas

Ashley has been part of the TJCA community since 2016. She returned in 2025 and now teaches high school math.

She earned a:

• Bachelor of Science in Middle Grades Education (6–9) from Appalachian State University

Ashley has taught math from 6th grade through Math 2, and this year she is also teaching Math 3. She worked at TJCA Middle School from 2016 to 2023, where she also served as Curriculum Coordinator and Testing Coordinator. She was named Secondary Mathematics Teacher of the Year and RS Middle Teacher of the Year in 2012–2013.

Outside of school, Ashley is the proud mom of two daughters, Madison and Emmeline. She lives in Kings Mountain, NC, but grew up in Rutherford County. She loves traveling, hiking, and exploring new places. She is also a roller coaster fan with 156 different coaster rides and counting! Ashley enjoys music, writing songs (including math songs), and playing guitar and piano. She is excited to bring her love for teaching and learning into the classroom.
