AVONDALE — The Theatre Department at Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy earned multiple awards at the 2025 North Carolina Theatre Conference (NCTC) High School Play Festival.
Under the direction of Bob Diebold, the cast presented Shuddersome: Tales of Poe and received recognition for:

Outstanding Achievement in Design and Production: Lighting Design

Excellence in Acting: Hannah Siviglia and Hannah Parker

Distinguished Play: Honorable Mention
More than 2,400 students from 90 schools participated in this year’s festival, which celebrates collaboration, creativity, and excellence in theatre.
“The Play Festival continues to exemplify the spirit of community and collaboration, providing students with an inspiring environment to learn from one another and lift up each other’s work,” said NCTC Executive Director Angie Hays.
The NCTC High School Play Festival is the largest high school theatre event in the Southeast and is supported by the North Carolina Arts Council, the Arts Council of Greater Greensboro and Ecolab.
