High School October Newsletter

Greetings Gryphon Families,

We have had an incredible September and are thrilled to share the accomplishments made over the past few weeks! We owe this all to our students, teachers, and the dedicated support of families.

September brought numerous opportunities for our students to explore their post-secondary options. We hosted on-campus visits from college representatives, including Hampden-Sydney College, Wofford College, Isothermal Community College (ICC), and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC). Our students also had the valuable opportunity to attend the ICC college fair, where they met dozens of institutions. These on-campus and off-campus opportunities help students take important steps in their college planning journey.

High School Learning thrived in the classroom and extended beyond it. This past month included a variety of field trips and cultural activities. Students visited ICC to see samples of iconic Shakespeare scenes, experienced a performance at Liberty Mountain, and enjoyed Step Afrika! at Blumenthal Arts. In addition, we are proud to have had the opportunity to support the incredible athletes competing in the Special Olympics NC Equestrian Tournament held at the Tryon International Equestrian Center.

Fall sports have been in full swing, and our school spirit was unmatched during Homecoming Week! The student body and staff embraced the excitement with the spirit-themed days, a wonderful parade, two pre-game ceremonies, and a fun Homecoming Dance. We are so proud of how the students handled themselves throughout the week, showcasing maturity and enthusiasm. We would like to extend a huge thank you to all our families for your support and flexibility as we navigated the unpredictable weather. We are looking forward to planning another Spirit Week to celebrate our Winter Sports!

We are also happy to report that Infinite Campus is up and running. Both parents and students should be able to log in to view their current grades. As the first quarter comes to a close, please don't hesitate to reach out to your teachers with any questions you may have. Our cafeteria is also using the system and running smoothly. They continue to offer delicious, healthy options, and you can view the menu by visiting www.tjca.org

October is already shaping up to be another busy month. The first quarter will officially end on Thursday, October 16, 2025. Students are encouraged to attend school for an early release day and the Powderpuff game. Our Fall Festival will be held at the Grammar Campus that evening from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, followed by our Fall Break from Monday, October 20, to Friday, October 24.

Your continued support and ongoing partnership in your student’s success are greatly appreciated. We are truly thankful for our TJCA students and TJCA families!

Sincerely,

Jennifer Wiggins
